IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Quinton Jamar
Owens
February 18, 1983 – January 5, 2024
Mr. Quinton Jamar Owens, the third and youngest child of Margaret Rollerson Owens and the late Bernard Owens was born on February 18, 1983. Quinton began his education in the Berkeley County School System, where he attended H. E. Bonner Elementary, Macedonia Middle, and was a 2001 graduate of Timberland High School. While in high school, Quinton completed the HVAC program and worked several summers at Berkeley County Food Service with the Summer Feeding Program, where he met and later married his sweetheart, Toneke S. Polite.
After graduation, Quinton pursued a career serving in the United States Army. His first duty station was at Red Cloud/Camp Casey in South Korea. Upon returning from Korea, Quinton and Toneke got married and moved to Ft. Stewart, Georgia. Shortly after being stationed as a member of the 1st Battalion, 39th Field Artillery Regiment at Fort Stewart, Quinton was deployed to Iraq to serve in Operation Enduring/Iraqi Freedom for approximately 6 months. Quinton continued to serve in the U. S. Army at Ft. Stewart until June 2005, when he was discharged.
Quinton enjoyed his coworkers and his job as a Tow Truck Driver at Universal Towing Company, Moncks Corner. He was proud of "his truck" and always talked about work. Quinton absolutely loved being a DJ, of which he pursued after his military career. He has served the surrounding communities with his talent and loved sharing what he called his "gift from God". He was proud of his work and has entertained many people, in many places, and on many occasions - secular and non-secular. For almost 20 years, he has consistently provided entertainment for the Annual Fall Hallelujah Fest at Beulah AME Church, Kingstree, SC, where he met and maintained a relationship with Edith and Larry Redden, of whom he called his second mother and father.
Quinton was a member of Mt. Carmel AME Church (Santee Circle Community) of Moncks Corner, SC. As a youth, he was active with the Church School, the YPDs, and the Youth Ushers. Later, he served as a Trustee, and was appointed to be Trustee Pro-Tem under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Eduardo Curry. He continued to serve in this position until his death. For many years, Quinton followed in his father's footsteps and served on the Transportation Ministry, transporting the members, especially the youth, to various church functions, as well as transporting many out-of-town conference attendees to and from the airport during various Episcopal Conferences held in and around Charleston.
Quinton loved his family and was very protective of them. He loved people and always had a nickname for everybody, or always picking on somebody. He was just a fun-loving person with everyone he met.
Quinton married the former Toneke S. Polite on September 6, 2003. To this union, they were blessed with 4 children.
On Friday, January 5, 2024, Quinton heard the Master's call and transitioned into eternal life with the Lord.
Quinton was preceded in death by his father, Bernard Owens and his brother, Craig Owens.
