Rashad Donte Smith, a son of Doris Smith Dinkins and Charlie Simmons, Jr., was born on Tuesday, May 19, 1981 in Charleston, SC. He departed this life on Monday, February 3, 2020 at Roper St. Francis Berkeley Hospital, Moncks Corner, SC.
"Bo", as he was affectionately known, attended the public schools of Berkeley County. He studied to be an electrician at Job Corps. He was employed in the lawn care business.
Rashad was united in marriage to Gikita Rhames in 2008.
Rashad loved spending time with his children, family and friends. He also enjoyed grilling, playing cards and boxing.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Charlie "CJ" Simmons III in 2011; grandmother, Anna Lee Simmons in 2017; two aunts and one uncle, Rose Jackson, Clarence Simmons and Rodella Simmons in 2019.
Family and friends who are left to cherish Rashad's memories are: his children, Tequandre (18), Kajuante (17) and their mother Kassandra; Rashad (12) and Shadai (11) whom he shared with his former wife Gikita; Ariyana (9), Saraina (7), Ciyere (5) and their mother Evana; and Dae'Quan (3) and his mother Jennifer Dangerfield who was Rashad's special friend.
Rashad also leaves to cherish his memory: his mother, Doris Dinkins; father, Charlie Simmons Jr. (Laureen); grandparents, Envie Simmons, Charlie and Priscilla Simmons; Godmother, Gail Hazel Campbell; brothers, Carsheme Dinkins and Keon Dinkins; sisters, Chrissie Simmons, April Simmons and Robin Simmons; God sister, Victoria; favorite cousin, Kathaleen Jackson; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
His Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, February 8, 2020, 11:00 a.m., at Greater St. James AME Church, 1831 Jedburg Road, Summerville, SC. Burial will be in Wilson Cemetery. Viewing will be Friday from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
