The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. - Psalm 23:1 A beautiful soul transitioned from her earthly home into eternal life on Wednesday, November 27, 2013. Mrs. Rebecca B. Aiken was born August 22, 1921 in Pineville, Berkeley County, South Carolina. She was a daughter of the late William and Mariah Barnes. While growing up with her family, Rebecca attended Good Shepherd Reformed Episcopal Church where she participated in Sunday School programs, Children's Day Services, and most of all where she accepted Christ as her Savior. She also attended the public schools of Berkeley County. Rebecca met the love of her life, Arthur Aiken. They were married on Easter Sunday, April 7, 1942 at the home of her parents. After marriage, she became a faithful and devoted member of Wesley United Methodist Church where she served on the Usher Board, Senior Choir, Pastor Parish Relations Committee and the Health and Welfare Committee, to name a few. She loved hearing the word of the Lord and enjoyed praising his Holy Name! Rebecca was a wonderful homemaker who loved gardening, baking and simply spending time with family. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 41 years, Arthur Aiken; siblings, Peter Barnes, Joseph Barnes, Martha Ravenell, Mary Middleton and Ida Marion. Her precious memories will forever be cherished by her devoted daughter Patricia A. Bryant; caring son-in-law, Derryl L. Bryant; loving grandson, Derrick J. Bryant; sister, Victoria B. Anderson of St. Stephen, SC; brother-in-law, Charles Aiken (Sherrie) of Summerville, SC; sisters-in-law, Maudine A. Cromwell and Ella Bea Aiken both of New York, and Wilhelmina Lee (William) of Las Vegas, NV; and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and neighbors.
