It is with great sadness that the Bland family announce the passing of their loved one Ms. Rebecca Bland of Jersey City, NJ, formerly of Pineville, SC.

Ms. Rebecca Bland of Jersey City, NJ, was born on June 28, 1954 in Pineville, SC, a daughter of the late William and Ellen Gourdine Bland. She departed this life on February 24, 2020 in Jersey City, NJ.

Rebecca was educated in the public school system of Berkeley County, graduating from St. Stephen High School, Class of 1971. She soon relocated to Jersey City, NJ to further her education. After completing business systems school, she was a longtime employee of the Hartz Mountain Corporation until she retired.

Rebecca accepted Christ as her personal savior at an early age and was a member of Redeemer Reformed Episcopal Church in Pineville, SC. She later became a member of New Redeemer Reformed Episcopal Church in Jersey City, NJ.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Ellen Bland; and siblings, Joyce Robinson and Rev. David B. Bland.

Rebecca leaves to cherish her memory: her daughter, Cicely Bland; three aunts, Bernice Smalls, Shirley Ellington and Angela Gourdine; sister-in-law, Alice Bland; goddaughter, Melissa Ellington; two nieces and three nephews; and a host of relatives and friends.

Her Memorial Service will be held Sunday, March 15, 2020, 2:30 p.m., at Gethers St. Stephen Chapel, 221 Church Road, St. Stephen, SC.  Condolences and other expressions of sympathy may be mailed to 16 Cator Ave. #1, Jersey City, NJ 07305 or to 473 Jenkinsridge Lane, Pineville, SC 29468.
