Obituary

For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand.

I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:"

II Timothy 4:6-7

Rebecca Rollerson Middleton, better known as "Queena," "Ms. Queena," "Sis. Queena," was the daughter of the late Augustus and Matilda Ravenell Rollerson.  Born on August 20, 1931 in Bar Hill Community of Bonneau, South Carolina, she was the last of eight children.  On Saturday, June 3, 2017, she answered her call to become a member of the Lord's Heavenly Choir.

Rebecca married Ellic S. Middleton on October 24, 1948.  To this union 10 children were born.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings; Sam, Rosa Lee, Albert, Mary Magdalene, Gus, Lucille, and Estelle; her husband, Ellic S. Middleton and four children; Steven, Roy, Joe Nathan, and Linda.

Rebecca was educated in the public schools of the Berkeley County School District.  At an early age, she began her lifelong membership of Bethel United Methodist Church in the Forty-One Community.  She was a true servant of the Lord and served in various capacities in the church, such as being the president of the Usher Board, serving on the Communion Stewardess Board, being the coordinator of the Older Adult Ministry, and being a member of the Prayer Band.  She loved to sing and her favorite song was, "Everything is Moving by the Power of God." Rebecca loved the church school and was regularly in attendance until her health began to fail and she was no longer able to attend church.

Rebecca was well-known to be the community's babysitter and caregiver.  She was always willing to sit with the sick.

Rebecca leaves many to cherish her memories: six (6) children, Sam Middleton (Denise), Willie Gus Middleton (Sheryl), Mary A. Bishop, Alex Middleton (Loverta), Barbara McHoney (Robert), Joseph Middleton (Felicia); twenty-three (23) grandchildren, twenty-four (24) great-grandchildren; two (2) loving sister-in-laws: Edna Thompson and Janie Middleton; a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, Godchildren, four (4) special "adopted" daughters: Ann Judge, Darcenia Montgomery, Ethel Rollerson, and Alfreda Wilson, one (1) special "adopted" son: Benjamin Varner; and a special circle of friends and church family.
