IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Richard
Campbell
July 1, 1961 – December 7, 2016
"As far as the east is from the west,
So far has He removed our transgressions from us."
Psalm 103:12
Richard Campbell, the son of the late George Washington Campbell and the late Flora Alberta "Betty" Simmons Campbell, was born in Manhattan, New York on July 1, 1961.
Richard began his early education in the New York public school system until his parents relocated to Summerville, South Carolina. He then attended the Berkeley County public schools and was a 1979 graduate of Berkeley High School. In 2014, Richard enrolled at Trident Technical College to further his education. He was employed by Santee Cooper, Piggly Wiggly Warehouse, and The Gallery Two art gallery where he would spend long hours on the weekends helping his father in the family business.
Richard attended St. James A.M.E. Church as a child. When he relocated to downtown Charleston, he attended church services and Bible studies several times a week. He would often talk about God's goodness. Richard also spent much of his time at the Charleston County Library reading and spending time with his friends.
Late Wednesday evening, December 7, 2016, Richard had an appointment to transition from mortality to immortality.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory: one daughter, Rochelle; three sons, Richard Jr., Tyrone and Jovon all of Moncks Corner, SC; and two brothers, Earl (Willa) Campbell and David (Taundra) Campbell of Summerville, SC.
Richard will also be remembered by his four loving aunts, Shirley Elliott, Mary (Lavone) Ford and Alma Liferidge all of Moncks Corner, SC and Octhetis (Anthony Sr.) Clouden of Brooklyn, NY; three uncles, Leon (Herphine) Simmons, Fernwell (Ferndena) Simmons and Calvin (Bertha) Simmons all of Longridge, SC; two nieces, two nephews, and a host of cousins and friends.
