On October 27, 1937, Reverend Robert Thaddeus Palmer was born to the late Robert and Eliza Perry Palmer. Thaddeus or Thad, as he was called, was the youngest of six children.

Thaddeus was educated in the public schools of Berkeley County and was a member of the Berkeley Training Class of 1959.  As a youth, he was a member of Nazareth Reformed Episcopal Church and while growing up in the Pinopolis section of Moncks Corner, he always displayed a passion and desire for ministry. You would often find him imitating and emulating the ministers in the community.

Thaddeus would later relocate to New York City in search of a better life. He worked as a professional painter for many years. It was there that he met his wife the Late Jessie Cooper Palmer. It was also in New York where Thad reaffirmed his commitment to Christ and entered into the ministry. Thaddeus would later retire and relocate back to Moncks Corner and reconnect with his roots here at Nazareth Reformed Episcopal Church. He never retired from serving God.

Thaddeus worked diligently for the Lord at Nazareth where he served as Associate Pastor under the leadership of the Reverend Benjamin Milligan. He also served as the Sunday School Minister and was an active advisor to the Male Choir. He had an avid love for music and enjoyed singing.

Thaddeus was a man of few words, and he said what he meant and meant what he said. His sense of humor was uncanny, and he was known as a practical joker. He sincerely loved his family and would often brag about them. He was not afraid to express his love for his family both biological and extended. He was an active member of the Berkeley County Progressive League and would be seen marching every year in the Dr. Martin Luther King Parade. He served one year as the Marshall of the parade. He was a very proud man, but yet he displayed humility. He was truly a man who loved the Lord Jesus Christ. To know him was to love him.

Thaddeus worked diligently until his health failed him. When he was unable to attend services anymore, he would sing his favorite song when his church family visited him. "Let Me Lean on You" was not only his favorite song, but it was what he believed in, because he knew that Jesus was the only person that he could truly lean on in his time of need.

Thaddeus transitioned into eternal life with the Lord on May 26, 2024, at Lake Moultrie Nursing Home, St. Stephen, SC.

He will be sadly missed by all who truly knew him. The ministries of Nazareth Reformed Episcopal Church have lost a true soldier for Christ. He leaves to cherish his memories: one son Elder Steven Palmer Eaddie (Andrilla), a very special niece and caregiver, Elizabeth Green, a special companion Ms. Lottie McKelvey, a host of loving nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, great grandnieces and great grandnephews, other relatives and friends.
