This is my storyThis was my life!!! I, Roland Dorsey Thomas, was born on July 16, 1948 in Summerville, South Carolina. I was the son of the late Dorsey Thomas and Lular Mazyck. I am also preceded in death by my sisters, Geneva Parrish of Freeport, Long Island, Dorothy Gillard of Bronx, New York, and my brother, Alvin Thomas of Summerville, S.C. I was called home by the Lord for eternal rest on Friday, August 22, 2008. I attended Alston High School in Summerville. I graduated in the Class of 1966. I wanted to further my education so I attended Benedict College, Columbia, S.C. where I obtained my Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. I served in the United States Air Force for three years and after my enlistment, I relocated to Freeport, L. I. I was employed by the New York City Health Department as a Lab Associate for over 30 years. By the grace of God, I retired in December 2007. I attended Brownsville Community Church of God at an early age. I was united in holy matrimony to Rosa Lee Smith on July 31, 1982. We were blessed with two children, Kristin and Roland II. I possessed a strong love for my family and friends. I was a dedicated and devoted husband and father. I was a strong Believer of God. I believed that the Church is in your heart and you didn't have to always go to a building to Praise God. I was loved and adored by everyone, especially the children. I was a very free hearted person - if I had it it was yours. I enjoyed watching all sports and western movies. I loved going to Atlantic City. I leave to cherish y memories: my devoted wife, Rosa Thomas; my daughter Kristin "Krissy" Thomas and my son Roland Thomas II. I am also survived by my brothers, Charles A. Thomas of Brooklyn, N. Y., Clifford Thomas (Samantha) of Summerville, S.C.; one sister, Deloris T. Richo (John) of Fernandina Beach, Fla.; three aunts, Rebecca Mazyck of Brooklyn, N.Y., Glennie Thomas and Essie Cummings of Summerville, S.C.; one uncle, Isaac Mazyck of Summerville, S. C. ; mother-in-law, Ruth Stevens (John) of Moncks Corner, S. C.; four sisters-in-law, five brothers-in-law, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. May the Work I've Done, Speak for Me!!!!!
