A Time to be Born On August 25, 1951, God blessed the late Roosevelt Hatcher, Sr. and Susan Hatcher Brown with a beautiful baby boy, Roosevelt Hatcher, in Wilson, North Carolina. A Time to Live Early in life, Roosevelt relocated to Newark, New Jersey with his parents, where he received his education in the public school system of Newark. Roosevelt was an exceptional basketball player. He helped lead his school's basketball team, Central High School to many championships. In the early 1970s, Roosevelt was blessed with his firstborn child, Kuwan Raggins. On December 14, 1974, Roosevelt was united in Holy Matrimony to Annie Jean Smith. From this union, they were blessed with three beautiful girls, Chanel, Lynn and Dana. In 1979, Roosevelt and his family relocated to Moncks Corner, South Carolina. Roosevelt was not just a hearer of the word, but he was a doer of the word. He practiced daily Joshua 24:15, "but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord." Every Saturday morning at the breakfast table he began devotion. He served in various ministries at New Bethel Sounds of Praise and Heart to Heart International Ministries as an Ordained Minister, Usher and Intercessory Prayer Leader. He always shared the good news of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ to various youth and his peers. As life progressed, Roosevelt rejoined Greater St. James African Methodist Episcopal Church, under the leadership of Reverend Phillip C. Anderson. He will always be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, friend and most of all, a Child of God. A Time to Die On Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at 9:50 a.m. while at home with loved one, Sir Roosevelt exercised his right of passage as a believer to go home to be with the Lord. He was preceded in death by his stepfather, John Brown and three sisters, Mary Curry, Rose Mae Hatcher and Dorothy Settles. A Time to Mourn He will be missed by: his loving and devoted wife, Annie Jean Hatcher; son, Kuwan Raggins; daughters, Chanel Alston, Lynette (Leroy) Dingle and Dana Hatcher all of South Carolina; five grandchildren, Selane and Sebastian both of Newark, NJ, Zion and Azania both of Sangaree, SC and Brooke of Moncks Corner, SC; one sister, Katherine (Cliff) Thomas; one brother, Richard (Winnie) Hatcher; three sisters-in-law, Isabelle Richardson, Bennie Simmons and Barbara Palmer; one brother-in-law, Hadden (Knocla) Smith all of Moncks Corner, SC; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
