Mr. Ruffin Simmons, son of Mrs. Ella Simmons and the late Mr. Lemirah Simmons, was born January 18, 1941, in the Longridge Community of Moncks Corner, South Carolina. Ruffin later moved to White Plains, New York in 1966. He was employed by Pergament Home Center for 34 years. After returning to Moncks Corner in 2000, he was employed by Piggly Wiggly for five years. While living in New York, Ruffin met the love of his life, Rebecca Burns. They were united in holy matrimony on July 15, 1972. Ruffin became a member of Trinity Holiness Church where he served until he went home to be with the Lord. On Wednesday, January 5, 2011, at 8:30 p.m., in the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) Hospital, God sent His angels to take away all of Ruffin's pains. He leaves to cherish his memories: his beloved and devoted wife, Rebecca Simmons; his mother, Ella Simmons; four sisters, Elouise Duberry, Alma Weldon (Willie Lee), Gloria Lawson (Alversal) and Francena Heyward (William); two brothers, Wilford Simmons (Viola) and Robert Lee Simmons (Virginia); two sisters-in-law, Ann Richards and Rosa Lee Robinson; one special brother-in-law, Willie Lee Weldon; two goddaughters, Kena Lawson and Karletta Mood; special great-nieces, ShaSha and Leigh Leigh; a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, co-workers and friends. Ruffin was preceded in death by his father, Lemirah Simmons and two brothers, Roy and Alton Simmons.
