Ruth Gibbs was born to Fredrick and Annabelle Gibbs on September 24, 1935 in the Santee Circle section of Moncks Corner, South Carolina. She went home to be with the Lord on March 6, 2013. Ruth was educated in the public schools of Berkeley County, SC. Upon graduation she moved to New York. At an early age, she joined Mt. Carmel A.M.E. Church where she continued her membership; but while in New York, she attended New Pilgrim Baptist Church where she was baptized and remained a faithful member. Ruth served faithfully on the Usher Board and the Pastor's Aide Committee. Ruth was employed at Holmes Protection. After retirement, she sought employment with Prospect Hospital and Belevue Hospital in the health care field. Surviving with loving memories are her children: Cheryl Gibbs-Davis, Johnny Gibbs and Barry Gibbs (Jeanette) of New York; her surrogate children: Barbara Gibbs-Bryant (Gerald), Anthony (Sabrina) and Roger Gibbs (Jenny) of Moncks Corner, SC, Cynthia Green (Sam) of Florida and Alonzo Gibbs of Alabama; five grandchildren, Ricardo and Renardo Gibbs (Cathy Grayson - mother), Paula Richards (Darnell), Jannelle Gibbs, Latyra Gibbs (Pam Powell - mother); one great-granddaughter, Alicia; two sisters, Geneva Codes and Daisy Dawson; three brothers: Joe Gibbs, Fred Gibbs and Sass Burden; godson, Vincent Coad; three special friends: Janie Gethers, Sylvia Wharton and Sharon Williams; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and The Scott and Griffith Family.
