Obituary

And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus." - Philippians 4:6-7 Mr. Samuel Lee Bryant, (affectionately known as "Coconut" or "Coke"), the son of the Reverend George Lee Bryant and the late Mrs. Blanche McClam Bryant, was born October 31, 1939, in the Bonneau Section of Berkeley County, South Carolina. He joined the Church Triumphant on Good Friday, April 6, 2012, at Trident Medical Center, North Charleston, SC. He was baptized and confirmed in Nazareth Reformed Episcopal Church at an early age and maintained his membership there. As a youth, he attended the public schools of Berkeley County and was a member of the 1957 graduating class of Berkeley Training High School. Samuel Lee worked for Wickes Lumber Company for thirteen years and was a dedicated employee of the City of North Charleston for 21 years before retiring. On April 22, 1963, Samuel Lee married the love of his live, the former Evelina Washington of Bonneau, SC. To this union three loving and devoted children were born. Those in whose memories he will always live are: his devoted wife, Evelina; loving children, Lawana of Manassas Park, VA; Anthony (Nichole) of Charlotte, NC; Sakoya of Columbia, SC; Jametta and Geraldine of Cleveland, OH; father, Rev. George Lee Bryant of Moncks Corner, SC; sister, Albertha Ferguson of Moncks Corner, SC; brother, Arthur Lee Bryant (Polly) of Pasadena, CA; four grandchildren, Alecia, Anthony, Ayana and Maurice; one great-granddaughter, Nevaeh; sisters-in-law, Naomi Washington of Bonneau, SC and Jessie Mae (Gary) James of San Diego, CA; four aunts, Sally (Harris) McHoney of Bonneau, SC, Ida Cooper of Charleston, SC, Earline (Emmert) Simmons of Philadelphia, PA and Minnie Hicks of Trenton, NJ; two very special friends: Jessie Bryant and Johnny Lee Robinson, Jr. who was like a son; loving nieces and nephews; and a host of tightly woven relatives and friends who will remember him forever.
