Obituary

"I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness" - II Timothy 4:7-8 I have fought a good fight... Samuel Joe Green was born on June 7, 1939 in Berkeley County, South Carolina, a son of Sarah McGee and Roland Gamble, Sr. He was educated in the public schools of Berkeley County, graduating from Berkeley Training High School in 1959. He was employed at Charleston Air Force Base in the 437th A.W. at Wrenwoods Golf Course until his health began to fail in 1993. He was an active member of Nazareth Reformed Episcopal Church. He was a faithful member of the Male, Senior and Mass Choirs. He was united in Holy Matrimony to Elizabeth Frazier on April 24, 1966. To this union, two children were born. I have finished my course... "Joe" as he was affectionately called, was called home on Thursday, November 20, 2008. He was preceded in death by: two sisters, Blondell Sass and Dorothy Mae Hamilton; his father and mother-in-law, Isaiah and Ermontrude Frazier; stepfather, James McGee, Sr. and a sister-in-law, Alfreda Heyward. I have kept the faith... Joe leaves to cherish his loving memories: his loving and devoted wife, Elizabeth Ann Green of the home; his children, Tyron Green of Jackson, MS, Reginald (Jennifer) Green of Raleigh, NC, Rhonda (Kendall) Holman of Cameron, SC and Latoya Savage of Moncks Corner, SC; a foster son, Danny Williams; his mother, Sarah McGee of Moncks Corner, SC (Cypress Gardens); brother, James (Ella) McGee, Jr. of Mt. Pleasant, SC; stepmother-in-law, Alonia Frazier; grandchildren, Shantasia Green, Lakin Green, Latia Taylor and La'Kyri Taylor; two sisters-in-law, Lillian (Elbert) Ford and Ermontrude Grantham; stepsisters, Diane Reid, Denise (James) Haigiler and Linda (Glenn) Bond; four brothers-in-law, Benjamin Hamilton, Benjamin Sass, Riley Grantham and Raymond Heyward; two aunts, Earline (Abraham) Walker and Ida Lee Green; two uncles, Henry McGhee and Sam McGhee; godson, Darryl McGhee; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
