He transitioned into eternal life with the Lord on May 1, 2014 in Charleston, SC. Samuel received his education in the public schools of Berkeley County, SC. He was employed by Westvaco as a Machine Operator until retirement. At an early age, Samuel joined Moncks Corner A.M.E. Church. He served faithfully as an Usher for over 55 years. Samuel was united in holy matrimony to Elizabeth Lerline Legare on April 21, 1962. This union was blessed with four children. Samuel will be remembered for his loving heart, his gentle spirit, and his unwavering faith in God. He will be greatly missed by many. He leaves to cherish loving memories: his wife, Elizabeth Lerline Heyward; children: Joseph R. Heyward, Samuel Heyward, Jr. (Diane), Pamela Walls, and Mark Heyward (Wilma); stepmother, Annie Mae Heyward; sisters, Alethia Simmons, Jacqueline Williams, Shirley Heyward and Evelyn Heyward; grandchildren: Jason Heyward (Cori) Makisha Gamble (Lance), Kimberly Moore (Leroy), Sean Gethers (Shanette), Tabitha Walls, Daniel J. Heyward (Kioshi), Keyton Heyward, Tameka Walls and Azure Heyward; great-grandchildren: Myecia D. Wigfall, Sami Heyward, Makenzie Gamble, Ally Heyward, Makirah Gamble, Chase A.
