Obituary

Mrs. Sarah B. "Sandy" Adkinson. daughter of Charlie and Victoria Brown Hawkins, was born December 24, 1904 in Alvin, SC. She departed this life on Tuesday, January 27, 2009 at home, following a period of illness. Sarah attended the public schools of Berkeley County. At an early age, she became a member of Holly Hill Christian Church and God's family. Sarah matured in Christian commitments. She served as a member of the choir for many years. She was the President of the Pulpit Aide and the Missionary Board. Sarah served faithfully until her health failed. Sarah was a personal care aide to many who were sick. She was no stranger to the community; she walked miles to see to their needs. She will be missed by many. She was united in holy matrimony to Mr. Edward (Ed) Adkinson in April of 1949. This union was blessed with four children, two children, Stephaney Brown and Betty B. Moore preceded her in death. Her loving memories will always be cherished by two sons, Melvin Brown (Helen) of St. Stephen, SC and Edward Adkinson, Jr. of Alvin, SC; seven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; a niece whom she reared, Loretta Robinson of Laurel, MD; a special niece, Willie Mae Palmer; a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
