Sarah Wright Thompson departed this life on Wednesday morning, February 11, 2009 at Trident Medical Center, Charleston, SC. A short part of her life was spent at Lake Moultrie Nursing Home in St. Stephen, SC. Sarah was born July 3, 1915. She was the daughter of the late Henry and Rebecca Wright. Sarah received her education in the Berkeley County School System. She was a farmer and a bus driver for Berkeley County Schools. At an early age, she became a Christian and joined St. Mark A.M.E. Church and served faithfully until her health failed. Sarah attended Sunday School, sang on the Senior Choir, served on the Trustee Board, and was Church Secretary. Sarah was united in marriage to Robert Thompson, Sr., in March 1931. They were blessed with three children. Robert and their children preceded her in death. She leaves to mourn: a loving, caring, and devoted grandson, John L. (Yvonne) Thompson whom she reared as a son; nine grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, twenty-four great, great-grandchildren and one great, great, great-grandchild; one daughter-in-law, Pearlie Thompson; three sisters-in-law, Geraldine Thompson, Hazel Washington, and Louise Wright; many loving nieces, nephews, neighbors and friends.
