IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Shirley Pinckney
Cleveland
October 19, 1946 – December 25, 2020
Shirley Pinckney Cleveland, the daughter of the Reverend James Pinckney and Corine Gadsden Pinckney, was born October 19, 1946 in Pineville, South Carolina. She was the fourth oldest of seven children, three siblings preceded her in death: Betty Ann, James Arthur, and Gonna Mae.
Shirley received her education in the public schools of Berkeley County.
Shirley was united in Holy Matrimony to the love of her life Archie Cleveland who preceded her in death. To this union, one son, Archie Cleveland, Jr., was born. She was a devoted wife and mother.
Shirley accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior early in life. She loved to serve the Lord and was a faithful member of Day Dawn Baptist Church where she sang in the choir. She loved her church and church family and served faithfully until she relocated to Tulsa, OK.
Shirley was loved by her community and was known by all as the "Avon Lady." She loved to bake treats for her family, especially her signature Seven Up cake and Jelly Stack cake.
Shirley was adored by many and made close friends wherever she went, including her closest friends in Tulsa, OK, Pamela Wohabe, Lanny Raynor and wife Xio Raynor, who visited her often during her time in the nursing home.
Shirley was truly dedicated to her family because she knew that family was one of God's special blessings. She will be remembered for her kindness and willingness to help those in need, especially the elderly in the community.
Shirley entered into eternal rest on Friday, December 25, 2020 in Tulsa, OK.
She leaves to cherish her memory: her son, Archie (Yoliana) Cleveland, Jr.; grandson, Archie Cleveland, III; stepdaughter, Patricia Hall; step-grandchildren, Delvin Pollard and Chloe Bryant; siblings, Louise Williams, Curtis Pinckney and Cynthia Pinckney; in-laws, Elvenia (Ernest) Gourdine, David (Gary) Cleveland, Joseph "Tad" Cleveland, Joyce Cleveland, Thomas (Ruth) Cleveland, Celestine (Al) Abraham, Alton (Carrie) Cleveland; aunts, Annie Mae Adams, Lillie Terry, Pauline Pinckney and Dolly Pinckney; godsons, Jakwane Pettigrew and Zack Pinckney; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
