Obituary

Mrs. Shirley J. Smith, daughter of the late Arthur and Phinney Brown Perry, was born on August 20, 1935 in Queens, New York. She departed this life on Friday, February 7, 2014 at her residence in Bonneau, South Carolina. Shirley was educated in the public schools of Berkeley County. She attended Baptist College in Charleston, SC for one year. She worked for the South Carolina Department of Social Services for twenty-years until her retirement. Shirley was a member of Liberty Reformed Episcopal Church where she served faithfully until her illness. She was a member of the Church Choir, the Vestry Board and was Church Secretary for many years. She was also a member of Berkeley Citizens, Inc. Shirley was united in Holy Matrimony to Mr. Royal Smith on November 22, 1952. This union was blessed with five children. Her husband, Royal Smith; a daughter, Sandra Lee Walker and a son, Ronald Smith , preceded her in death. Shirley leaves to cherish her precious memories: two sons, Royal J. Smith and Charlie N. Smith both of Jamestown, SC; one daughter, Sheraldine Fulmore of Jamestown, SC; two foster daughters, Estella Rodriguez of Andrews, SC and Debra S. Patrick of Atlanta, GA; thirteen grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; three great, great-grandchildren; one niece, Jeanett V. Dilligard; a host of other relatives and friends.
