Our Lord and Savior called his faithful servant, our beloved Shirley, to rest on Tuesday, May 14, 2019 at Atrium Post Acute Care in Hamilton Township, NJ. As a result, our hearts are less bright, but we know the Heavens are filled with extra doses of love, joy, peace and laughter.

Shirley Beatrice Wood was born September 8, 1931 in Trenton, New Jersey. She was the last surviving sibling of the Roy family where four children were born to the late Zedic and Beatrice Jones.

She was educated in the Trenton Public School System. Shirley was employed and retired as a dietary supervisor at Helene Fuld Hospital. She loved her family and friends. She was a great cook and loved to bake. She relocated to Moncks Corner, South Carolina in 1994 and returned to New Jersey in 2014.

Shirley enjoyed reading her bible and furthering her spirituality. Her favorite scripture reading was Psalm 23. Her favorite gospel artist was Shirley Caeser. Shirley was a member of Church of Christ in Trenton and Moncks Corner where she touched many hearts with her gentle spirit. She was a vibrant member of the Red Hat Club in South Carolina.

Shirley was united in holy matrimony to the late Isaac E. Wood Sr. in 1952.

In addition to her husband, Shirley was predeceased by her son, William Roy; her daughter, Patricia Brown; her mother Beatrice Roy; her father Zedic Roy; her brother Zedic Roy Jr.; her two sisters, Estelle Molder (George) and Francis Hicks.

Shirley's memory will be cherished and forever remembered by her four daughters, Catherine Wood, Gwendolyn Davis (Joe), Telita Williams and Barbara Wood; her three sons, Isaac Wood Jr. (Evelyn), Phillip Wood and Alvin Wood (Johnita); a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday, May 23, 2019, 11:00 am, at Berkeley Church of Christ, 1483 Highway 52 South, Moncks Corner, SC. Burial will be in the church cemetery.  Viewing will be Wednesday from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
