IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Stacey Marie
Palmer
April 18, 1972 – November 3, 2021
Swans are often known as peaceful, gracious and elegant. Folklore even tells us these creatures sing most beautifully as they make their heavenly transition in style and class: their Swan Song . On November 3rd, Stacey Marie Palmer graciously whispered the lyrics of her Swan Song. Surrounded by a cloud of witnesses, she joined the joy of God's presence. Now Stacey's robust laughter, warm smile and always "laid" tresses are radiating from the windows of heaven.
The eldest and only daughter of Melvin Palmer Sr. and Daisy Mae Palmer, Stacey was born on April 18, 1972. She started her schooling in Jersey City at James F. Murray Elementary School (P.S. 38) and graduated from St. Aloysius High School. Stacey continued her education at Hudson County Community College, and while it was her last stop in formal education, she never stopped learning and sharing her song.
Much like her maternal grandfather, Stacey was a young woman of few words. But somehow, she was able to share her signature side-eye or sharp quick wit which always led to a symphony of laughter with her sibling-cousins and dearest friends. When it came to her official and unofficial God-children, Stacey was transformed into a world of unmistakable bliss. Their bubbly smiles and insatiable laughter brought out the purity of her heart and devotion to children.
She was also a devout church member. She loved to sing, praise, worship and could always be found in her Sunday's Best (even when it wasn't Sunday). When she wasn't on the go, Stacey could be found exchanging food, laughter and lots of love with those closest to her heart. For many years, Stacey worshipped as a member of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Jersey City and later at Abundant Life Family Worship Church in New Brunswick, NJ. Stacey faithfully served as a member of the Starlight Choir and Eternal Love Concert Choir which became the Kiss FM Concert Choir, where she formed lasting bonds and meaningful friendships.
In addition to her love for others and singing, Stacey was a woman who loved her work. Her value of hard work was solidified from years as an employee of Provident Bank, UBS Financial Services, Neiman Marcus and her seasonal contributions at MetLife Stadium and Prudential Center. In fact, while working at Short Hills Mall, she relished the opportunity to snag her favorite designers and while working at MetLife and Prudential, she was able to nurture her love and passion for music. Whether it was the Summer Jam concerts or the McDonald's Gospelfest, Stacey immersed herself and many of her friends and family in these incredible experiences. She spent the latter part of her career at New Jersey Transit as the D&A Program Assistant.
Stacey led an exemplary life as a daughter, sister, niece, cousin, aunt, godmother, friend, and most importantly a woman of God. Her transition was preceded by both her maternal and paternal grandfathers, Buster Grant Sr., and Harry Palmer. She leaves to cherish her memory: her maternal and paternal grandmothers, Victoria Grant and Petronia Palmer, mother, Daisy Mae Palmer, father, Melvin Palmer Sr., brother, Melvin Palmer Jr. (Danielle), niece, Dionni, and three God-children, Christian H. Conyers, Ashlee Watkins and Jadin Smith; and was beloved by her young cousins Amani Daniels-Verdin and Kabir Daniels-Verdin, whom she cherished and they cherished her like an "Auntie". Stacey will be honored and remembered by a host of friends and family whose love goes with her and whose souls wait to join the safe and capable hands of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
