Mrs. Susan McKelvey Bartley, affectionately known as "Susie", the daughter of the late Harry and Mary Jane Liferidge McKelvey, was born on November 21, 1934 in the Kitfield section of Moncks Corner, South Carolina. She transitioned into eternal life with the Lord on September 3, 2018 at her home in Moncks Corner, South Carolina.

She was educated in the public schools of Berkeley County and attended Berkeley Training High School.

Susan was brought up in a Christian home and attended Nazareth Reformed Episcopal Church. As a teenager, she accepted Christ in her life. She joined Nazareth and faithfully worked on the Usher Board and in the Sunday School Department. In 1952 she was united in Holy Matrimony to William Leroy Bartley. After her marriage, she joined Graham African Methodist Episcopal Church currently, Moncks Corner African Methodist Episcopal Church.  She served as a member of the Women's Missionary Society, the Golden Circle and the Stewardess Board.  On her Christian journey, Susan sang with the Choraliers, the Junior and Senior Choirs, the Lewis Harmonetts, the Drayton Singers, the Chancel Mass Choir and of course, the Bartley Singers. Susan loved to sing!!

Susan was employed as a factory worker for Delsey Fabric in Summerville, South Carolina. A lover of children, she was also employed by Berkeley County School District as a bus driver and retired in 1991 after thirteen years of employment.

Susan was preceded in death by her parents, Harry McKelvey and Mary Jane Liferidge McKelvey; her brothers, Franklin, Samuel and Arthur McKelvey; her sisters, Albertha Williams, Nathalie McKelvey, and Lorenia Pearl McKelvey Bellamy.

Susan and William were blessed with eight children, one preceded her in death.

She leaves to cherish her memories: her husband, William Leroy; her children, Melvin Wilfred (Pearline) Bartley, Willie James (Cheryl) Bartley, Rose Mary Myers, Rosalind (Solomon, Jr.) Glover, Mae K. Bartley, Walter Leroy (Johnnie Mae) Bartley and Suzann Bartley; eight grandchildren, Tarvas Joy, Eric Cooper, Chrystal (Eric) Neely, Brooke Myers, Kalonda Capers, Kia Myers,  Marcus Bartley and Tyler Bartley; seven great grandchildren; six sisters-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
