Obituary

With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Mr. Sylvester "West" James of North Charleston, SC, who departed this life on Wednesday, January 28, 2026. Mr. James proudly served his country in the United States Army, reflecting a life dedicated to duty and honor.

He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Apostle Evelina James; his son, Joey James; and his cherished grandchildren, Trinity James and Joey T. James, along with his great-grandson, Pharoah James. Additionally, he is survived by his siblings: Miriam James, Faye James, Jerome (Dee) James, and Bernard (Fayetta) James, as well as his cherished aunt, Mary Sims, and many family and friends who will miss him dearly.

A Wake Service will be held on Friday, February 6, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at Johns Island House of Prayer, 1986 River Road, Johns Island, SC.

A Homegoing Celebration Service will take place on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., also at Johns Island House of Prayer, as we celebrate a life well lived and a soul at rest.

Entombment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens, North Charleston, SC.

We humbly ask that you uplift the James family in your prayers as they walk through this season of bereavement.
