Thomas Beauford, the son of the late Mr. Gilyard Beauford and Mrs. Lular Taylor-Beauford, was born on February 9, 1941 in Jamestown, South Carolina. He entered into eternal rest on Sunday, June 2, 2013. He was educated in the Berkeley County Public School System. Before moving to New York City, at an early age he accepted Christ as his personal savior and joined Liberty Reformed Episcopal Church, Jamestown, SC. Upon his return back home in 1991, he reunited with Liberty R.E. Church. Thomas was trained in automotive mechanics and welding. As an entrepreneur, he operated his own trucking company in New York City for several years before relocating to South Carolina. He was employed by the South Carolina Highway Department until his retirement in 2003. After God and his love for family, his work and trade was his greatest passion and he continued at it until his final day. He could always be found taking apart, figuring out, putting together, breaking down, building up, planting, digging up, growing, cutting down, starting up, driving, riding, remodeling or rebuilding something or anything...all while talking or making a joke. Thomas was united in Holy Matrimony to Flora Mae Shine in 1962 in New York City, and lived there for over twenty years. He was preceded in death by a sister, Lizzie Hawkins. He leaves to cherish fond memories: his beloved wife of 50 years, Flora Mae; his children, Michael Shine of Columbus, GA, Thomas Jr. of Buffalo, NY, Anthony Ray (Fermina) of Harrisburg, NC, Patrick Xavier (Debra) of Livingston, NJ and Tanisha (Dexter) Williams of Far Rockaway, NY; his siblings, Louise Whitaker, Theresa Little, Bertha Mae Brunson and Douglas Beauford all of Jamestown, SC, Betty Beauford of Harlem, NY, Yvonne Beauford and Albert (Sadell) Beauford both of Englewood, NJ, Sarah Beauford of Hackensack, NJ, Willie James (Angie) Beauford of Darlington, SC and Gilbert (Cynthia) Beauford of Teaneck, NJ; grandchildren, Cortina (Curtis) Butler, Christopher (Toyia) Tucker, Anthony Latise, Ayana Monique, Ricardo, Thomas Denzel, Patrick Xavier II, Mattie Monet, Shaquan, Dexter Jr., Siearra Mickel, Charle Skyy and Vaughn Christian; great-grandchildren, Darion, Myshia, Jalen, Kalin, Zyaisha, Anthony Isaiah, Amauri Latise, and Romi; brothers-in-law, David (Ramona) Basco of Englewood, NJ and Herman (Constance) Basco of Harlem, NY; sister-in-law, Helen (James) Coleman of Moncks Corner, SC; two aunts, Mary Louise Taylor of Baltimore, MD and Bernice Taylor of Jamestown, SC; he also leaves a host of nieces, nephews and friends, especially Willie (Shirley) Matthews of Jamestown, SC and Algernon Nigel (Michelle) Whitaker of Alvin, SC, who were like a brother and a son to him.
