Thyrone L. Garnett, Sr. was born on November 30, 1968 in Charleston County, SC. He was the son of Queen Esther Garnett and Edward Chavis. He departed this life on December 13, 2019 at home with his wife at his side.

Thyrone was a 1988 graduate of Berkeley High School, Moncks Corner, SC. He was employed with the Berkeley County School District for several years. His curiosity for knowledge led him to pursue various occupations. At the time of his health declining, he was employed with Blue Max Trucking.

Thyrone met the love of his life Gretta Pride, and they were joined together in Holy Matrimony on March 19, 1994 in Cordesville, SC.  From this union, they were blessed with three children.

Thyrone loved his community and children. He hosted yearly Back to School Bashes and gave away book bags filled with school supplies. He also put up jump castles which was always the highlight of the kids' events. He hosted Spring Break Camp for children and took them on daily field trips.

His brother Jerrell Garnett, his maternal grandparents and paternal grandparents preceded him in death.

He leaves to cherish his memories: his loving and caring wife, Gretta P. Garnett of the home; two sons, Thyrone L. Garnett, Jr. and Keven A. Garnett of Moncks Corner, SC; one  daughter, Jazmene M. Garnett of the home; two grandchildren, Xy'Keere Garnett and Amir Lee of Moncks Corner, SC; godson, Dakarai Grant of Atlanta, GA; mother, Queen Esther Garnett; father, Edward (Cheryl) Chavis of Moncks Corner, SC; mother–in-law, Gail W. Pride; father-in-law, Theodore L. Pride; and grandmother-in-law, Lue Bertha White all of  Moncks Corner, SC; six brothers, Ricky (Jannette) Garnett of Moncks Corner, SC,  Christopher Bennett of Columbia, SC, Charles Bennett of Summerville, SC, Dushun (Tina) Chavis of Maryland; Kevin Chavis and Richard Gourdine of Moncks Corner, SC; two sisters, Bridget Gourdine and Shontae Chavis of Moncks Corner, SC; special aunt "Mom", Margie Garnett; special cousin "brother", Maurice (Samone) Garnett; brother-in-law, Marlon Parker; sister-in-law, Demetrius Garnett all of Moncks Corner, SC; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Thursday, December 19, 2019, 11:00 a.m.. at Greater Emanuel AME Church, 1174 Doctor Evans Road, Moncks Corner, SC. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Viewing will be Wednesday from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. There will be NO VIEWING after the service.
