Verdelle M. Vanish, daughter of the late Cornelius and Frances Middleton, was born on March 3,1939. She departed this life on Wednesday April 24, 2024, at her home. She answered God's call and quietly slipped away into eternal life with the Lord.
She was educated in the public school system of Berkely County. She spent time in Brooklyn, New York, where she met her husband, Thomas Albert Vanish. After marriage, she became a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, where she proudly served on the communion stewardess committee. Verdelle was a loyal employee, the most recent company, C.R. Bard, from which she retired. She was affectionately known as "Dell" and Aunt Dell. Verdelle was also known for her culinary skills, especially baking. Her specialties were pound cake, apply jelly layered cake, and sweet potato pie. Verdelle took pleasure being in the company of family, laughing and talking with her siblings. She had a great love for the Lord and looked forward to joining him in heaven.
She was preceded in death by her parents; the late Cornelius and Frances Middleton; sisters: Victoria Legree (Benjamin), Anne Graves (Jerry), Pearline White (Joe); brothers: Amos Middleton, Elijah Middleton, Oscar Middleton, Lawrence Middleton; husband, Thomas Albert Vanish; and brother-in-law, Jesse J. Vanish.
She is survived by her children; Connie Washington Brown of Moncks Corner, S.C., Lionel Garret Vanish of Alpharetta, GA, Patrisha Vanessa Vanish of Columbus, OH; aunt: Suesen Strong; sisters: Lillian Patterson (Roosevelt) of Summerton, S.C., Alfreda Smith, brothers: Deacon Isaac Middleton (Josephine), Cinclair Middleton, all of Pineville, S.C.; sisters-in-law: Gwendolyn V. Williams (Robert) of Jacksonville, FL, Miriam V. Ham (Quincy) of Elyria, OH, Thelma Vanish; brothers-in-law: Clark G. Vanish (Linda) of Carson, CA, Burnett T. Vanish (Ruth), Lewis Vanish Jr. all of Moncks Corner, S.C.; and a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held to honor Mrs. Vanish's life on Sunday, April 28, 2024, 1:00 p.m., at Wesley United Methodist Church, 1008 Sugar Hill Drive, Moncks Corner, SC. Burial will be in Old Nazareth Cemetery, Pinopolis, SC. Viewing will be held Saturday, April 27, 2024, 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., at the funeral home.
