Vernetta Morant Doiley was born February 8, 1950 in St. Stephen, SC. She was the daughter of the late Effie Jefferson and Clyde Burns. Vernetta attended the St. Stephen Baptist Church. She received her education in the public schools of Berkeley County. Upon graduation, she became employed at Albany Felt International. She was a faithful employee until she retired after 31 years of service. "Ell", as she was called, loved fishing. Many days she was often found on the fish bank. She was a caring person and it was a joy for her to help raise her very special niece, "Faith." Vernetta was well liked in her community and will be missed. "Ell" departed this life on Tuesday, August 30, 2011 at her residence. She leaves mourn: a loving son, Addison Eugene (Belinda) Doiley, Jr. of Ridgeville, SC; a loving daughter, Sonia Doiley of Moncks Corner, SC; ten sisters: Earline (William) Surgeon of Charlotte, NC, Deloris (James) Winns of New Haven, CT, Doretha (Jessie) Sanders, Betty Burns, of Society Hill, SC, Shirley Gregg, Dorothy (Roy) Steele, Darlene Burns of Darlington, SC, Nellie Amos Brown of Hartsville, SC, Annette Nelson of Ladson, SC and Linda Williams of North Charleston, SC; two brothers, Clyde Burns, Jr. of Hartsville, SC and Gary Burns of New Haven, CT; a special friend, Gloria Burns; a special cousin and friend, Edward Mouzon; a godson, Lamont Ham; eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
