Obituary

It is with our deepest sorrow that we announce the passing of Mrs. Victoria Pryor Manigault of Syracuse, NY, formerly of Brooklyn, NY, who entered into eternal rest on Sunday, August 16, 2020.

Victoria "Vickie" Pryor Manigault, daughter of the late Isaac Pryor and Janie Bennett Pryor, was born on December 16, 1939, in Beaufort County, South Carolina. She attended Beaufort County schools and graduated from Robert Smalls High School.

Encouraged by her twin sister, Virginia Pryor Redd who preceded her passing in 2010, to move to Brooklyn, New York where on May 11, 1962, she was united in holy matrimony to Elijah Manigault.  This union was blessed with two daughters, Barbara Manigault Spears (Gregory) of Syracuse, New York and Cheryl Manigault Wray (Carl) of Brooklyn, New York; four grandsons, Dwayne Manigault, Brenton Spears, Gregory Spears and Kordell Wray; four great-grandchildren, Amora Manigault-Johnson, Malachi, Chassidy and Soha Spears.

For more than 40 years, Victoria was a devoted member of St. John's Baptist Church in Brooklyn, New York where she chaired the Trustee Board.  Her drive and tenacity as a missionary supported Vickie's ability to participate in other auxiliaries ranging from the Gospel Chorus to the Deaconess Committee.

Her career spanned more than 30 years. Vickie was an accredited member of the American Academy of Professional Coders, certified with a medical coding certification that was maintained up until she retired from Long Island College Hospital in Brooklyn, New York.

Vickie and her husband relocated to Syracuse, New York in 2001 where she became a member of Tucker Missionary Baptist Church, Pastor Decatro D. Draper. Vickie attended the Kirkpatrick Adult Day Program, organized by the Alzheimer's Association of Central New York and until March of 2020, she attended the Nascentia Program, where she and her daughter Barbara, were frequently viewed in commercials and various social media platforms. A contributor to the fight against Alzheimer's Disease, Vickie's outpatient care was monitored by the State University of New York Institute for Human Performance in Syracuse, the University of Alabama at Birmingham - Reasons for Geographic and Racial Differences in Stroke (REGARDS) project, the Nascentia Health Organization and the Onondaga County Department of Aging. Even during her ailing years, Vickie was known to be generous at heart in her kind and gentle way, as she was often called "Lady Victoria" by those who were titled as her personal care team.

Vickie's life will forever be as cherished in the lives of: living siblings, Beatrice Redrick of Dale, SC, Margret Pryor Johnson (James) of Brooklyn, NY, Lillian Pryor of Bishopville, SC, Jeanette Nelson (Herbert) of Dale, SC, Annette Williams (David) of Dale, SC, David Pryor (Dorothy) of Brooklyn, NY, Ethel Hunter (A.C.) of Selma, AL, Willie Lee Pryor (Robin) of Dale, SC, Mary Anthony of Jonesboro, GA and Ray Pryor of Dale, SC; six sisters-in-law, Janie Gadson Pryor and Sandra McBride Pryor both of Dale, SC, Beauty Richardson of Moncks Corner, SC, Janie Doctor of Centreville, VA, Mary B. Manigault of Cleveland, OH and Nancy Manigault of Moncks Corner, SC; one brother-in-law, John Middleton of Russellville, SC.
