IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Victoria H.
Middleton
April 17, 1912 – May 7, 2018
Victoria Harper Middleton Wright Cuffee
Sunrise: 4/17/1912 Sunset: 5/7/2018
A name is given at birth. She was affectionately named Victoria by her brother Charlie. She always reminded us that she was named Queen Victoria. The Queen in the game of chess is the most powerful piece. True to the game, "Sis" (as she was known to family), was a powerful and beautiful woman within her family. The Queen is gone. She departed this life on May 7, 2018 in Bronx, New York.
Her life started in Bonneau, South Carolina on April 17, 1912, the youngest child of Rachel and Joe Harper. She navigated her way up north like many families, but her heart always remained in the South. Her wish was to be buried next to her mother so we are here to honor that wish.
There are certain things about our beloved "Sis" that we will all can agree upon. "Sis" was a hard worker, at times working two jobs to support her family. She taught all her children and grandchildren how to pray, teaching them The Lord's Prayer, or Psalms 23 "The Lord is My Shepherd".
She loved music, her favorite musical artist included Jackie Wilson and Ray Charles; however, her favorite musician was her son Anthony Middleton. When she saw her son and grandson perform on PBS, she started shouting and screaming with joy.
Those left to cherish her memory and legacy are: her children, Anthony Middleton, Joseph Wright, Jean Wright King, Joan Wright Flowers and Valerie Cuffee; grandchildren she reared, Regina Canty and Katherine King; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren who loved and adored her and will forever miss her.
She was preceded in death by three sons, John Middleton, James Wright and Melvin Wright; and one grandson who she reared, Harry Wright.
