Viola Cooper Milligan was born on July 29, 1910 in Berkeley County, South Carolina, a daughter of the late Rebecca Thompson and Joseph Cooper. Viola received her primary education in Berkeley County Public Schools and did further studies at Avery Institute and South Carolina State College. At an early age, Viola became a member of Mt. Carmel A.M.E. Church and was a faithful member until her health failed. She spent most of life as a caregiver and homemaker. She enjoyed the visitations of friends and relatives. Viola also had a love for fishing and was an avid Bible reader. Viola was married to the late George Milligan. She departed this life on July 24, 2008 at Trident Medical Center, North Charleston, SC. She leaves to cherish her memories: one sister, Mary E. Cooper of St. Stephen, SC; one brother, Joseph C.
