Obituary

Violet Ann Carter, daughter of the late Crayton Edward McElveen, Sr., and Alma Bernice McElveen, was born August 10, 1963, in Cherry Point, North Carolina. She departed this life on October 12, 2024, peacefully in her home in Moncks Corner, South Carolina.

Violet was educated in the public schools of Prince William County, Virginia.

Violet loved the Lord and was a faithful member of The Church House of Ministries Worldwide Moncks Corner.

She was joined in holy matrimony to her former spouse Robert Carter on August 13, 1983, and out of this union birthed four beautiful children.

Violet grew up in Woodbridge, VA, spending most of her adult years there. She was employed in food services in the Prince William County School Systems. She later relocated to St. Stephen, SC to help her mother care for her grandparents. Her caring and nurturing spirit then led her to become a foster parent, fostering many children even up until her passing. One of her favorite scriptures was Psalm 121:1-2, "I lift up my eyes to the hills from whence cometh my help, my help comes from the Lord the maker of Heaven and Earth". She would follow up with, 'Good God I Pray'. Her caring heart, love, and humor will be missed by all who love her.

She leaves to cherish her memory two loving daughters, Monique Walker (Kelvin) of Conyers, GA, Candance Canty (Lester) of Moncks Corner, SC; two devoted sons, Robert Mario McElveen of Charleston, SC, Sequyoah McElveen of Charleston, SC; two foster daughters, Shamika Myers of Moncks Corner, SC, Shaquia Myers of Moncks Corner, SC; a special nephew who she loved like her own Joseph McElveen of Woodbridge, VA; three sisters, Doris McElveen of Woodbridge, Virginia, Maria McElveen of Sterling, VA, Olivia McElveen of Maryland; two brothers, Michael McElveen of Moncks Corner, SC, Arthur Green of Woodbridge, VA, her best-friend, Diretha Moore, of Dumfries, VA; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two siblings, Deborah Joyner, and Crayton McElveen Jr., and grandparents Silas and Lillie Mack.
