IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Vivian Kathleen
Hadley
December 19, 1930 – April 9, 2019
For everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven: A time to be born, And a time to die.
-E cclesiastes 3:1-2 NKJV
Mrs. Vivian Kathleen Hadley, 88, entered into eternal rest on the 9th day of April 2019 in her home surrounded by loved ones.
Mrs. Hadley was born on December 19, 1930 in Berkeley County, SC, to Lawton Haynes, Sr. and Emma Joy Haynes.
Mrs. Hadley was educated in the Berkeley County schools. While living in New York, Vivian was employed as a nurse in the New York City Hospital. After returning to South Carolina, she worked at the Berkeley County Hospital in Moncks Corner, SC. She later became a Teacher's Aide in the Berkeley County School System and served diligently until her retirement. She positively impacted the lives of many students.
Vivian Kathleen was united in holy matrimony to Patrick Hadley, Sr. This union was blessed with five children.
Mrs. Hadley was a member of Cordesville United Methodist Church where she served faithfully until her health declined.
Mrs. Hadley was active in her community. During elections, she worked at the precinct as a poll worker. Vivian was soft spoken but stern in her presence. Her hobbies included gardening, fishing and reading. She also loved to cook. Her specialty dish was collard greens. She was also a great dresser.
Mrs. Hadley was a woman of faith. She fought until the end claiming independence despite her ill health. She trusted God. She raised her children and grandchildren on God's strength and prayer. She provided for her children in spite of the obstacles she faced. Like the woman in Proverbs 31:27, Vivian carefully watched everything in her household and was productive in order to care for her children.
Mrs. Hadley will be remembered for her kindness, her gentle spirit, and her unwavering faith in God.
She leaves to cherish her memory: her children, Randy (Deborah) Hadley, Virgil (Jaqueline) Hadley, Gwendolyn Joyce Hadley and Vivian Kay Hadley; nine grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren; three sisters, Lucille (Herman) Washington, Gladys (Jesse) Lloyd and Janette Haynes; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Mrs. Hadley was preceded in death by her husband, Patrick Hadley, Sr.; parents, Emma and Lawton Haynes; son, Carl Hadley; grandson, Williard Wendell Hill III; siblings, Lawton Haynes, Jr., Mary Louise Jeffers, Lillian McNeil and Arthur Lee Limehouse.
