Job 13:15 Mr. Wayne Anthony Gibbs, the son of the late McKinley and Albertha Peace Gibbs, was born on December 29, 1954 in Dorchester County, South Carolina. After an extended illness, on Friday, July 11, 2008 at 4:41 p.m. at Roper Hospital, Charleston, South Carolina, the Lord heard his cry and answered quickly. Wayne was reared in the Longridge Community of Moncks Corner, South Carolina and was a 1972 graduate of Berkeley High School. In 1978, he was united in Holy Matrimony to Mrs. Marsha Simmons Gibbs. This union was blessed with two wonderful children. For many years, Wayne was employed by Gates Rubber Company, Moncks Corner, South Carolina. He was also a skilled brick mason and was an avid farmer. At an early age, he became a member of Greater St. James African Methodist Episcopal Church where he served in the following capacities: member of the Board of Stewards, Church Treasurer, Class Leader, Finance Committee member and Church School Teacher. Also known for his melodious voice, Wayne was a faithful member of the Sanctuary and Male Choirs. He was blessed with a God given talent and he truly loved to sing. His songs were inspiring to all. Wayne was preceded in death by a sister, Sharon Gibbs. He leaves to celebrate his memories: a devoted wife, Mrs. Marsha S. Gibbs of Moncks Corner, SC; two loving children, Miss Ashley Gibbs of West Columbia, SC and Mr. Avery Gibbs of Moncks Corner, SC; a grandmother, Mrs. Carrie Shepherd of Summerville, SC; three brothers, Mr. Danny (Celestine) Linder, Mr. Joseph Linder and Mr. John Lee Pinckney all of Summerville, SC; six sisters, Miss Ella Mae Linder, Miss. Diane Scott, Ms. Rosetta Scott, Mrs. Mary Ann Oliver and Mrs. Carrie Sanders all of Summerville, SC and Miss Beatrice Linder of Goose Creek, SC; one aunt, Mrs. Ethel Pinckney of Ridgeville, SC; a mother-in-law, Mrs. Maggie Mae Simmons of Moncks Corner, SC; two brothers-in-law, Mr. Orell (Lillie) Simmons and Mr. Chester (Fredericka) Simmons both of Moncks Corner, SC; a host of other uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and friends.
