Obituary

TOn Thursday night, October 8, 2015, at 7:30 p.m., at WJB Dorn Veterans Administration Hospital in Columbia, South Carolina, Mr. William Mckinley Eadie, Sr. of Saint Stephen, SC, went to heaven to join his heavenly Father, wife and son. We do not mourn our loss however, we celebrate his life and his life's work. We thank God for his love, devotion, kindness, and teachings throughout his life's journey. Our father never met a stranger. He always greeted everyone with his gorgeous smile and in-depth conversation. William was born in Cross, SC on December 6, 1950. He was the son of the late Furman Eadie, Sr. and Wilhelmenina (Ray) Jones Eadie. William was educated in the public schools of Berkeley County and graduated from Central High School in the Class of 1969. He enlisted in the United States Army on March 25, 1970. He served in Vietnam from July 19, 1971 to January 31, 1972. For his service in Vietnam, he received several medals: National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and Vietnam Campaign Medal. William was honorably discharged on March 24, 1976. After returning to civilian life, he worked various jobs in construction, mechanics, and truck driving. William was united in Holy Matrimony to Geraldine Gourdine Eadie who preceded him in death. One son, William M. Eadie, Jr., preceded both of them in death. William was a member of Hickory Hill Baptist Church, Pineville, SC, at a young age. He later became a member of Redeemer Reformed Episcopal Church, Pineville, SC, after moving to Saint Stephen, SC. He was a helper to all in need from coast to coast. No Job was ever to big or small for him to accomplish. Those left to cherish his precious memories are: daughter, Katina Hosford (Hayden) of Charlotte, NC; son, Durrelle Eadie (Camica) of Hampton, VA; six grandchildren: Ivona Hosford, Ian Hosford, Jacquez Eadie, Nahjae Eadie, Stacia Oglesby and Payton Eadie; five bothers, Furman Eadie, Jr., Darrell Eadie, Henry Eadie (Lalia) of Syracuse, NY, Vernon Eadie (Deloris) of Charleston, SC, and Joseph Eadie of Cross, SC; one sister, Helen Eadie of Pineville, SC; five sisters-in-law, Bernice Small of Willingboro, NJ, Shirley Ann Ellington of Pineville, SC, Angela Gourdine of Bayonne, NJ, Betty Blanding of Andrews, SC and Catherine Judge of Jersey City, NJ; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
