Obituary

William Marion , who was affectionately known as "PeeWee", was born September 17, 1944 in Moncks Corner, South Carolina. He was the son of Susie Washington Marion and James Marion. On Sunday evening, December 1, 2019, at 6:45 p.m., he departed his earthly life at Moncks Corner Medical Center, Moncks Corner, SC.

William was educated in the Berkeley County public schools and was a 1964 graduate of Berkeley Training High School. While in high school, he played football for The Wildcats. After graduation, he relocated to New York where he worked in the garment district for many years. William then obtained his Commercial Driver's License (CDL) and became employed as a truck driver for H&M International Transportation until his retirement in 2005. He returned home to Moncks Corner to enjoy his retirement.

William was united in Holy Matrimony to the love of his life Ermena Haynes on June 16, 1995.

William enjoyed several hobbies, including dancing, riding motorcycle, singing and listening to old school music, and watching Court TV shows.  He also collected hats, caps and model cars.  His true passion was a love of sweets.

William was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Lillie; and four brothers, Leroy, Solomon, Moses and Joseph Sr.

He leaves to cherish his memory and sadly miss his presence: his beloved wife, Ermena; his children, Tyrone Marion, Africo Jermaine Smalls (Merdenis), and Rev. Darrel President (Anjanette); five grandchildren, Caiden, AJ, Les, Jasmin, and Darrel Jr.; three brothers, Robert Marion (Henrietta), Arthur James Marion, and Charles Davis; one sister, Susiean Gadsden (Jessie); three sisters-in-law, Susan Major (Godfrey), Ida Davis, and Sandra Marion; two brothers-in-law, Richard Haynes and Gerald Haynes; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousin, relatives and friends.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, December 7, 2019, 11:00 a.m., at Moncks Corner AME Church, 306 West Main Street, Moncks Corner, SC. Burial will be in St. James Cemetery. Viewing will be Friday from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
