Obituary

Willie Workman, Jr., son of the late Willie Workman, Sr. and Lillie Mae Workman, was born on August 9, 1955 in Blair, South Carolina. The eldest of the three children, Willie entered into eternal rest on October 17, 2021 at Agape Hospice Care in Summerville, South Carolina.

Willie spent his formative years in the public school system of Jersey City, NJ at P. S. 38 and Snyder High School. He worked for the United States Postal Service in Jersey City while obtaining his Bachelor's degree. After college, Willie dedicated his life in service to others and spent more than 25 years as a classroom teacher. Many have noted the remarkable ways in which he went above and beyond the call of education to show concern for the total well-being of his students and their parents – calling him mentor, friend, and counselor. He served as a track coach at Elizabeth High School, an Upward Bound teacher at Seton Hall University, and Program Director at the Twilight Program in Jersey City, New Jersey.

Willie loved The Lord and certainly believed in the power of prayer. He committed his life to Christ and became a minister, serving faithfully at Agape Family Worship Center in Rahway, New Jersey. Willie never met a person whom he didn't offer encouragement and was always ready to end a conversation with, "Let's have a word of prayer".

Willie was preceded in death by one brother, James Workman. He leaves to cherish his memory: a loving and devoted wife, Jean Workman; children, Eric Workman (RaSheda), William Workman, Ursula Munoz (Trevor), India Davis, Takiya Mack (Shawn Sr.) and Courtney Davis; grandchildren, Marcus Workman, Amani Workman, Nisaiah Butler, Skylinn Workman, Kiara Mack, Shawn Mack Jr., Zhane Mack, Madison Golden, Mose' Golden and Cori Davis; one brother, Ronald Workman; and a host of other relatives, coworkers, and friends.
