Life Legacy and Reflection
Mrs. Willie Mae Andrews
On March 15, 1940, a beautiful wide-eyed baby girl was born to the late Maggie Broughton Addison and Willie Addison in the Old Field Community of St. Stephen, South Carolina.
Reared in a religious environment, Willie Mae, affectionately known as Maude, went to church as often as the church doors were opened. In her early years, she became a member of St. Matthews Baptist Church, where she served in the following capacities: President of the Combined Choir, Sunday School Superintendent, President of the Antioch Association Health Ministry and Pulpit Aide member.
Maude was educated in the Berkeley County Public School System and was a member of the Russellville High School Dragons, Class of 1958. Later after high school, she relocated to New Jersey where she met and married Herbert Andrews on October 19, 1963. This union was blessed with five children. Her husband and a son, Rodney Andrews preceded her in death. While residing in Jersey City, NJ, Maude attended Missionary Temple of the Apostolic Faith under Pastor L.C. Gregory, where she served as a Missionary.
Upon her return home, Maude loved caring for others which led her into nursing. She studied to become a Licensed Practical Nurse at the Medical University of South Carolina and Trident Technical College.
After obtaining her nurses license, she worked at the doctor's office and worked for the South Carolina Department of Special Needs for over 30 years in both Coastal and Pee Dee Regions. After retirement, Maude had the opportunity to take several trips to Europe with her sisters and friends. When she wasn't traveling, she enjoyed planting flowers and fishing.
On March 6, 2022, while in the presence of her devoted children, Maude quickly slipped away from this earthly life to her heavenly home.
Maude leaves to cherish many fond memories: her devoted children, Christine (James) Sturgis of Goose Creek, SC, Julia Ravenell of Baltimore, MD, Herbert "Herbie" (Angela) Andrews, Jr. and Cynthia Ravenell both of Columbia, SC; nine grandchildren, Candace Darby, Terrell (Sarah) Sturgis, Patrina Ravenell, Courtney (Lorenzo) Robinson, Kimberly (Bahtel) Singleton, Antonio Ravenell, Corrie Ravenell, Shaena Ravenell and Alexis Andrews; 15 great-grandchildren; a goddaughter, Jessica Johnson; four sisters, Rev. Ronald) Casey of St. Stephen, SC and Reatha Limehouse of Macon, GA; two brothers, Samuel Broughton of Jersey City, NJ and Douglas (Kathleen) Addison of St. Stephen, SC; two sisters-in-law, Jessie Johnson and Lillie Mae Addison; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was also preceded in death by her siblings: Cephas Addison, Tony Addison and Marie Johnson.
