IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Sandra "Baby"
Bennett
March 26, 1959 – May 12, 2018
Sandra Bennett, known as "Baby" to family and friends, was born March 26, 1959, in Berkeley County, South Carolina. She was the daughter of the late Eliza Bennett. She departed this life on May 12, 2018, at her residence.
Baby accepted Christ at an early age at Bethel United Methodist Church, St. Stephen, SC. She was dedicated to serving her church. For many years, Sandra was very inspirational in guiding members with accomplishing several projects in and around the church. First, she served on the church's Health and Welfare Committee which was designed to help the less fortunate. She later served in other auxiliaries of the church, which included the Senior Choir, the Trustee Board and the Pastor Parish Relation Committee. In 2004, Sandra became the Chairperson of the Fundraising Committee for the renovation of the church and in 2005, she co-chaired the Building Committee. This committee was formed to renovate the front section of the church, including the restrooms. Sandra's dedicated service and commitment to Bethel will always be remembered. She attended faithfully until her homegoing.
Sandra was educated in the public schools of Berkeley County and was a 1977 graduate of Macedonia High School. She earned an Associate degree at Trident Technical College, Charleston, SC. Sandra was employed at Berkeley/Dorchester Economic Head Start Program for 25 years. At the time of her passing, she was employed as an Office Manager and In-Home Care Supervisor at Berkeley Seniors, Inc. for 11 years.
Sandra was instrumental in her community contact relations at all levels to help the seniors, disabled and the less fortunate. She was committed to several community organizations. Being a woman of action and involvement, she served the Forty One Community well. She was secretary for the Forty One Volunteer Fire Department, the Forty One Brotherhood Organization and the Forty One Wilder Community for over 15 years.
Sandra enjoyed working in her garden and planting flowers. She will be remembered for her kind heart, gentle spirit and willingness to help others.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Eliza Bennett and her sister, Sarena Addison.
She leaves to cherish her memories: her son, Samuel Parson of the home; sister, Barbara Washington of Sumter, SC; brothers, Albert Bennett of the home and Truman (Bertha) Washington of St. Stephen, SC; one brother-in-law, Dennis Addison of St. Stephen, SC; one godson, Darelle Pressley; aunts, Ruth Paulin of St. Stephen, SC and Christine Pettigrew of St. Louis, MO; uncle, Willis Jefferson of Tallahassee, FL; oldest cousin of the family, Henry C.
